You must install the disconnect within sight of the supplementary overcurrent device(s) and on the supply side of the same overcurrent device(s) [424.19(A)].
- If the heater has no motor rated over 1/4 horsepower, follow 424.19(A)(1). If any motor in the heater is rated over 1/4 horsepower, follow 424.19(A)(2).
- When the heater does not have a motor over 1/4 horsepower (that includes heaters without a motor), and the breaker is within sight of the heater or is lockable per 110.25 [424.19(B)(1)].
